Add subtle, elegant lighting to deck fascia, stair risers, retaining walls, and post faces with Lightkiwi's cast brass half moon deck light. The semi-circular frosted glass lens casts a soft, diffused glow downward and to the sides — ideal for step safety lighting and decorative accent lighting on outdoor structures. Built from heavy-duty cast brass for long-term outdoor durability, with a weatherproof construction rated for all outdoor conditions.

Installation

The P8015 can be installed two ways:

Recessed (flush mount) — cut a hole in the mounting surface and recess the fixture for a clean, built-in appearance. Ideal for deck fascia boards, stair risers, and timber retaining walls.

Surface mount — the rear of the fixture has mounting holes for direct surface attachment. Note: mounting screws are not included and must be sourced separately.

Wire through the back opening and connect to your low voltage landscape lighting system using waterproof snap connectors (sold separately). No electrician required — 12V low voltage installation is DIY-friendly.

Where to Use Half Moon Deck Lights

Deck fascia — mount along the lower face of deck boards to cast light onto the deck surface and surrounding ground. Creates a layered lighting effect when combined with path lights and spotlights.

Stair risers — one light per riser step provides safe, code-friendly step illumination without glare. The downward half-moon pattern keeps light focused on the tread below.

Retaining walls — mount in the face of timber or stone walls to add depth and dimension to garden landscaping.

Post faces — attach to deck posts or fence posts for ambient perimeter lighting.

Compatibility

The P8015 operates on 12V AC or DC and is compatible with all Lightkiwi low voltage transformers (75W, 150W, 300W, 600W). Connect directly to your existing landscape lighting wire run — no separate circuit or transformer required. Typical power draw with a 3W G4 LED is minimal, allowing many fixtures to run from a single transformer zone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this fixture come with a light bulb?
The base model is sold without a bulb — choose the kit option to include a 3W 2700K warm white G4 LED bulb. If purchasing the bulb separately, use a G4 bi-pin base LED or halogen bulb rated for 12V.

Can I install this myself?
Yes. The P8015 operates on 12V low voltage — no electrician required. Connect the lead wire to your landscape lighting system using waterproof snap connectors. For recessed installation, you will need a hole saw or jigsaw to cut the mounting hole.

Are mounting screws included?
No. Mounting screws are not included and must be sourced separately. Use stainless steel screws for outdoor installations to prevent rust staining on the brass finish.

How many can I connect to one transformer?
With 3W G4 LED bulbs, each P8015 draws approximately 3W. A 150W transformer (120W usable at 80%) can safely power up to 40 fixtures. In practice, most deck and stair lighting installs use 6–12 fixtures per zone, well within any Lightkiwi transformer's capacity.

Will the brass finish change over time?
Yes. Natural brass develops a warm patina with outdoor exposure, darkening gradually over time. This is a characteristic of solid brass and not a defect. Some homeowners prefer the aged patina; if you want to maintain the original finish, apply a clear outdoor lacquer periodically.

Is this compatible with smart home systems?
Not directly at the fixture level. Smart control is managed at the transformer — add the Lightkiwi [WiFi Smart Plug](https://www.lightkiwi.com/products/e2683-wifi-smart-plug-low-voltage-landscape-lighting-transformer) to control the entire transformer circuit, including all connected deck lights, from your phone or voice commands.
