Where to Use a Downlight

Moonlighting from trees — mount high in a tree and aim downward to simulate the soft, dappled effect of moonlight filtering through branches. One of the most natural and dramatic landscape lighting techniques.

Pergolas and gazebos — mount on structural beams to illuminate the seating area below without a visible fixture at eye level.

Eaves and overhangs — mount on the underside of roof eaves to wash light down onto entryways, patios, or planting beds.

Choosing the Right MR16 Bulb

The Z6126 accepts any standard 12V MR16 GU5.3 bi-pin bulb (sold separately):

- Medium (36°) — versatile general-purpose downlighting

- Wide (60°) — broad, even illumination for seating areas and larger zones

Wattage: 5W–10W for elevated downlighting applications where the fixture is mounted 8–15 feet above the target. Higher mounting height requires more wattage to maintain adequate brightness at ground level.

Color temperature: 2700K–3000K warm white for a natural moonlighting effect. 4000K for a crisper, more functional task-lighting feel.
