Complete low voltage landscape lighting kits with everything you need to illuminate your outdoor space — transformer, brass fixtures, direct burial wire, and waterproof connectors included. No guesswork, no separate sourcing. Just unbox, run the wire, and you're done.

## What's Included in Every Kit

Every Lightkiwi landscape lighting kit comes with:

  • Low voltage transformer - steps down 120V household current to
safe 12V for outdoor use. Includes built-in timer and photocell port.
  • Brass fixtures - spotlights, path lights, or downlights depending
on the kit. All solid brass for long-term outdoor durability.
  • Direct burial wire - 100% pure copper, ETL listed, rated for
      underground installation.
  •  Waterproof wire connectors - Snap connectors make wiring fast and secure.

## Choosing the Right Kit

Spotlight Kits

Best for accent lighting — trees, shrubs, home facades, garden features. Spotlights direct a focused beam onto a specific target. Our adjustable-focus spotlights let you fine-tune the beam angle after installation. Choose a spotlight kit if your main goal is highlighting architectural or landscape features.

Path Light Kits

Best for walkway and driveway safety. Path lights cast a soft downward glow that guides guests without glare. Choose a path light kit if your primary need is illuminating walkways, borders, or garden edges.

Combination Kits (Spotlight + Path Light)

Best for most homeowners. A mix of spotlights for drama and path lights for safety gives you a complete, layered lighting design. Available in several spotlight-to-path-light ratios depending on your layout.

Downlight Kits

Best for overhead mounting — eaves, pergolas, overhangs, and walls. Downlights wash a soft light downward onto seating areas and entryways.

## How to Calculate What You Need

Count your lighting zones and estimate the wattage. Most Lightkiwi fixtures run between 3W and 20W. Stay within 80% of your transformer's rated wattage for safe, reliable operation.

For example, a 150W transformer can safely power up to 120W worth of fixtures — roughly 8 to 15 lights depending on the wattage of each fixture.

If you're unsure, our Build Your Own Kit tool calculates the right transformer size based on your fixture selection.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What is included in a Lightkiwi landscape lighting kit?
Every kit includes a low voltage transformer, brass landscape fixtures (spotlights, path lights, or downlights), 100% pure copper direct burial wire, and waterproof snap connectors. Everything you need is in one box — no separate purchases required.

### Do I need an electrician to install landscape lighting?
No. Low voltage landscape lighting runs on 12V and does not require a licensed electrician for installation. The transformer plugs into a standard outdoor GFCI outlet. Most homeowners complete a basic system in 2–4 hours.

### How deep do I need to bury the wire?
The NEC recommends burying low voltage landscape wire at least 6 inches deep. Deeper burial (12 inches or more) is advisable in areas with regular foot traffic, lawn maintenance, or wildlife activity. Using conduit adds extra protection against rodents and digging animals.

### Can I add more fixtures to a kit later?
Yes. Lightkiwi's low voltage system is fully expandable. As long as your total fixture wattage stays within 80% of your transformer's capacity, you can add fixtures at any time using additional wire and snap connectors.

### What is the difference between 12/2 and 14/2 wire?
12/2 wire (12 gauge) handles longer runs and higher wattage loads with less voltage drop. It's the better choice for runs over 100ft or systems with many fixtures. 14/2 wire works well for shorter runs and lighter loads. All kits include appropriately sized wire for the included fixtures.

### Are the fixtures weatherproof?
Yes. All Lightkiwi landscape fixtures are rated for outdoor use. Solid brass construction provides natural corrosion resistance against rain, moisture, and temperature extremes. ETL listed for safety compliance.

### How do I control when the lights turn on?
The included transformer has a built-in timer port and photocell port. Use the digital or mechanical timer (sold separately) to set a daily on/off schedule, or add a photocell for automatic dusk-to-dawn operation.
